Lowepro Super Trekker AWII
Where to start with kit bags? There are just so many out there to choose from, however one company that has consistently managed to be on top of its game is Lowepro.
The Supertrekker AWII is one tough bag, with room enough for most of my camera kit, including a 500mm prime lens attached to a camera body, but for all its size it is super comfy to wear. It's light for a start, so you're not carrying half the weight as the bag itself. The shoulder straps and waist-band are beautifully designed to adapt to any body shape or form. As on all Lowepro bags, the zips are top quality and on the Supertrekker the main zip is protected with a weather shield so that it can withstand quite heavy showers. Inside, the padding is more than adequate, with enough Velcro separators to accommodate just about any configuration of gear. And the grey internal colouring makes it easy to spot little black bits of camera kit that might rattle at the bottom of the bag.
I take mine abroad a great deal, so it's important that it can travel easily on airline baggage handling systems. With this in mind, the Supertrekker has an integral cover for the rucksack straps to prevent them getting snagged on carousels. Add to this the tough webbing round the sides which allows you to add side pouches of your choice, a well designed tripod pouch and straps, and even a day sack thrown in. This makes for a very robust and versatile carrying system.
